Furnace Failure: Common Reasons Yours Won’t Start Up

With weather finally cooling off—and getting downright chilly at night—the last thing you want to encounter is a malfunctioning furnace. Nevertheless, this is a possibility, particularly if you haven’t had your furnace maintained on a regular basis. If your furnace won’t start up at all, this can be even more disconcerting.

The first thing you should do if this occurs is check both your thermostat, and your electrical panel. Be sure that you don’t have your thermostat in cooling mode and it is set at the temperature you desire. Check your electrical panel also; is there a tripped circuit breaker?
